AUSTRALIAN DUATHLON SERIES

The new look 2010-2011 Australian Duathlon Series was recently launched and will see one race held in each State. Tasmania’s event will be run by Triathlon South at the Rokeby Police Academy on Sunday October 3 2010 and will double as the MyState Financial Tasmanian Duathlon Championships.

DOMESTIC DUATHLON SERIES UNDER THE ONE BANNER

The launch of the Australian Duathlon Series sees each of the traditional state-based duathlon championships packaged into an integrated series under a uniform format.

Its aim is to create an Australia-wide competition that provides an opportunity for duathlon competitors to travel interstate and experience events in attractive locations. This year’s Australian Championships, for example, will be held in the beautiful Barossa Valley on August 15.

The series caters for the novice, age group and elite competitors. Each event will incorporate some or all of the following races: novice, sprint, classic and endure. The distances and surfaces (on-road or off-road) may vary according to each location.

Duathlon, of course, consists of a second shorter run leg instead of the swim leg in a traditional triathlon. So, whether you’re a duathlon specialist, an elite triathlete looking to improve your run speed and bike power, an age grouper searching for decent hit-outs over the cooler months, or a novice looking to sample a fun multisport, check out the Australian Duathlon Series.
